The Muses, goddesses of art and science — this title honors the female composers whose works I have brought together in this program. I have chosen music that is powerful, distinctive, and at times delightfully idiosyncratic. Through my own research, I arrived at an initial selection of evocative works by Nadia Boulanger, Clara Schumann, Germaine Tailleferre, and Mel Bonis.
