Music of the Muses – Piano Recital

The Muses, goddesses of art and science — a title that pays tribute to the female composers whose works I have brought together in this program. I have chosen music that is strong, distinctive, and at times strikingly idiosyncratic. Through my own research, I arrived at an evocative selection of works by Nadia Boulanger, Clara Schumann, Germaine Tailleferre, and Mel Bonis.

These exceptional women are joined in the program by two composers deeply inspired by women: Franz Liszt and Kurt Wiklander.
The result is a recital in which you will undoubtedly encounter music that is new to you — works that, like me, may spark your curiosity to seek out more music by female composers. Allow yourself to be carried away by their stories, their colors, and their sounds, and be surprised by the power and subtlety of their musical voices.
